Esc Quotes & Clock New Tab · Last updated: October 20, 2026
Short version: Esc does not collect, sell, or share any personal data. Everything you set stays in your own browser.
What the extension stores
To remember your preferences, Esc saves the following only on your device, using Chrome's built-in storage (chrome.storage.local and the page's local storage):
- Your chosen theme, clock format (12h/24h) and display mode
- The display name you type for the greeting (optional)
- Quotes you save or pin, and a small cache of upcoming quotes
This data never leaves your browser. The developer has no access to it. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
Network requests
To show a random quote, Esc requests quotes from dummyjson.com, a public quotes API. These requests contain no personal information: no name, no saved quotes, no browsing data. Like any website, that server can see standard technical request details (such as your IP address) under its own policies.
Fonts and icons are bundled inside the extension; no other servers are contacted.
What Esc does not do
- No analytics, tracking, or cookies
- No ads
- No reading of your browsing history, tabs, or other websites
- No selling or transferring of data to anyone
Permissions
- storage: saves your settings and saved quotes on your device. This is the only permission Esc asks for.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
